Restorative floor care operations may occur on an as needed basis versus a predetermined frequency schedule. Green Seal certified product systems (Green Seal Environmental Standard for Industrial and Institutional Floor Care Products, GS-40) will be utilized. In addition, the following options will guide the Green Cleaning Program in hard surface floor care:

• Natural stone floors, concrete, and other unfinished floors do not require stripping and re-application of sealer or finish, eliminating the need for costly maintenance procedures, and are typically more slip-resistant.
• When floor finish application is desired or required (e.g., floor type, floor protection, appearance), Green Seal certified systems using environmentally preferred floor care systems will be utilized. This includes removing and disposing of all previous floor coating products and applying environmentally preferred products.
• If environmentally preferred floor care systems are not desired, conventional finish and sealer will be used. Maintenance procedures that extend the product life cycle and minimize the frequency of stripping operations will be implemented. A floor care system closely matching Green Seal guidelines will be selected.
• Floor maintenance procedures such as high-speed floor burnishing utilize dust collection mechanisms and disposal.
• Notice of restorative maintenance operations will be given to the customer. Restorative maintenance operations will occur during times of minimum building occupancy.
• Auto scrubber and/or mop-on restoration products will be used instead of spray chemicals. Equipment will be selected and utilized properly to minimize water use.
